![]() ![]() This glue sets incredibly quickly and doesn't run the hole is nicely sealed. Leaving about 1 foot of cable in the cubby (with 2 feet behind, in the dash), we sealed the hole with a black stick glue (Nighthawk, I think - it was my friend's) and the ever-present hot glue gun. (Those wires come from the left side to the circular hole as a bundle.) The RCA -> minijack cable routed around the right side of the vents and into the rear dash cover cubby hole cleanly. We specifically created the hole to the lower right side so as not to interfere with the other wires going into the circular hole behind the vent assembly. Next, we drilled a hole in the back wall of the cubby. We connected a three foot RCA -> minijack cable (male) to the Blitzsafe RCA's. We didn't ground to the frame metal instead we did a "T-tap" into the radio's ground, a brown wire, standard in European makes. Unplug CD changer, plug in Blitzsafe adaptor. Turning to the iPod, we used a Blitzsafe adaptor, following (largely) the instructions posted in the link in Spockcat's signature. ![]() We didn't attempt the install of a separate power adapter because (1) we use external power for the iPod rarely and (2) we were able to leave enough cable to pull the iPod out of the cubby and plug the Belkin adaptor into the 12V in the center console in those rare times when we need it. Regarding the iPod install, here is the thread responding to my initial post regarding the feasibility of the iPod placement in the dash cover cubby:Īnd, of course, the links in Spockcat's signature were invaluable. The dash cover modification how to is here:Īnd additional information regarding the dash cover install, including the discussion of the speed nut issues that we had, is here: In lieu of the photos, here are the links for sites/threads I found really helpful doing this modification. I'm not very experienced with picts and posting, so I apologize in advance for the absence of the traditional "how-to" photos. I couldn't have done it so quickly without everyone's help. Took me about an hour for both the dash cover and iPod install. Thanks to everyone, and especially Spockcat, for assistance. We installed the iPod in the center lidded cubby above the dash vents today. ![]()
